My dear mother who decided that we were going to get festive and bake an entire turkey today for the fun of it.

The same dear mother who helped me package it all up to take to school with me for the week.

That my “week” only really consists of two days, Monday and Tuesday, and then I’m off for Thanksgiving Break!

Watching Catching Fire with my best friend.

Getting teary-eyed and goosebumps during my favorite parts of the book being reenacted in the movie.

The super deep conversations that I had with said friend on the 30 minute drives to/from the movie theater.

More thought-provoking conversations had later on with my dad over creationism and evolution.

Perhaps finding a new doctor to go see. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t take months to get in.

Christmas movies on the television.

Television. It’s kind of refreshing to watch TV shows on an actual TV vs. my laptop.

My dad finally turning the heat on in the house.

Adding even more puppy chow recipes to my ever-growing Pinterest board.

The #Elf4Health challenge that I joined! There are a ton of fun challenges to participate in starting tomorrow! I will NOT be participating in Day 1 because as you know I basically subsist on meat and vegetables so going MEATLESS would be a terrible terrible idea. But Day 2 is perfect for me and my inboxes stuffed with thousands of emails…

48 Thoughts on “Marvelous Is… A Lot of Things (WIR)

  1. Ah Catching Fire was amazing! It was even better than I expected it to be. I love it!

Plus those puppy chow recipes look amazing! Mmm! πŸ™‚

  2. Sounds like a very marvellous weekend indeed. That is so funny your accounting teacher sent you the solutions!!

So good you are doing Elf for Health, if I wasn’t doing an Intuitive Eating Holiday Challenge I would have signed up too.

I can’t friggin wait for Hunger Games!! I am seeing it on Wednesday night.

On the weekend I watched the 2nd Godfather with friends and drank and ate a lot of red wine and cheese.

    • Funny and oh so completely wonderful! Haha. Of course I did the questions first and the double checked to verify I got them right AFTER, but it was still a nice little buffer to be had πŸ˜‰

Ya. Focusing on just the one challenge is probably best. Good luck with yours!

I’m curious to what you think of it. While it definitely was way better than the first and had some amazing moments, I will always love the book best.

I’ve never seen any of the Godfather movies but have always wanted to.

  3. I enjoyed a very lazy weekend, relaxing, cooking, baking. And lots of sleep. Just what I needed. πŸ˜‰
    Your weekend sounds amazing, too.

  4. Omg STOP with the puppy chow πŸ˜‰

Haha, the other day I was on your pinterest trying to find the puppy chow board, but accidentally went into some other board of yours thinking it was it (it had ‘mom’ in the title) lol. Oh my gee.

Can’t wait for your vlog- I’m thinking of mayyyybe doing one too..a Joke one. That is so awesome that your professor sent you guys that…did they have to change the paper?

PS does your brother like the quest bars?

    • NEVER πŸ˜‰

Haha. Did you find my “Mom Check This Out Board?” Lol. That’s where I post everything I want my mom to look at. She’s not quite adept at Pinterest yet πŸ˜›

I just need to find a time where my roommates aren’t home so they don’t think I’m a weirdo talking to myself. He probably would have changed the paper if anyone had told him about his mistake… Lol.

My brother never got to try the quest bars! He went to eat one and then we find out my parents ate all of them. Haha. You snooze you lose. THEY loved them though. I think I’ll have to buy one for my brother to try out for Christmas. I’m thinking cookie dough?

  5. I’m so jealous you saw catching fire!!! I wanted to but my weekend was taken over by my blog redesign! Such a headache grrrr. And your accounting teacher…hilarious!

    • I visited your blog a few times during that redesign process. Looking good! Did you do all of the work yourself?

I had to double check my email at first because I thought maybe it was just a dream. Haha. Nope. The solutions were still there!

  6. YAY for a short week! I can’t wait to go home for the holiday!

  7. Too much marvellousness! First off — Catching Fire — loved it! I enjoyed it so much more than Hunger Games, and honestly couldn’t believe that I managed to make it through a 2.5 hour movie without wanting to claw my eyes out. Second — Christmas movies! I don’t have cable at home, but I’ve been going on movie watching marathons when I go over to my parents’ on Sunday nights and it’s such a great way to get into the holiday spirit. I can’t believe that Christmas is a month away!

    • I think I’m just a really tough critic when it comes to movies, but I agree that I enjoyed it so much more than the Hunger Games (as I said on your post today too πŸ™‚ ). I’ll agree as well that there wasn’t really a dull moment and instead of wanting it to end I was begging it to go slower… πŸ˜‰

I managed to just catch one Christmas movie (Golden Christmas) before I left on Sunday but when I go home my mom and I are going to drive my brother batty with our Christmas marathons.

      Holy cow. You’re right! It’s the 25th. 😯

  8. Wheeeee, I am so excited about Catching Fire! Definitely want to see that soon. And The Hobbit. Amazing.
Your dad has only just put the heating on?? Crazy! We’ve had ours on since…errm, October… though I have to prevent my hubby from having it on full blast all the time when he’s walking round in a T-SHIRT. I mean seriously.
And love that your mum cooked a turkey just because. I did that the other day but with a chicken. Amazing.

    • The Hobbit is another one that I’m excited for too!

Well he had the wood burning stove on in our basement, but it didn’t really permeate to the rest of the house. He decided to turn the heat on to see if it would “improve our moods.” Lol. We were all getting a little grumpy and I think it was in part because we were so gosh darn cold!

We cook whole chickens all the time. Glad yours was awesome πŸ™‚ Turkeys are just SO big. It took like 3 hours 😯

  9. Omg, Catching Fire. I can’t even. So so so freaking good…I need to see it again this week. I thought I loved Jennifer Lawrence before, but she’s taken the character to a whole new level and had me near tears for much of the movie. Gahh, love it!! You have the best teacher ever, too, haha…I definitely wish that had happened to me when I was in school πŸ˜› Enjoy your short week and time with your family!

    • I’m hoping to see it again this weekend too! The rest of my family bowed out and decided to do other things instead of watching Catching Fire. But then the rest of the weekend they drilled me on all of the little details. Haha. Just watch it! πŸ˜›

I cried (well, not full out cried but wet eyes and a few escaped) during a few parts of the movie. She is just so good.

You enjoy your time off too Caitlin!

  10. That’s quite a week, my dear! Didn’t see the first Hunger Games. I think I’ll wait until they are all out and I can buy the dvds and do it at home. The Elf for Health challenges looks pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing the info. Have a great day, Madison!

  11. I’m an elf too! So fun making new friends and committing to health through the holidays!

  12. What is Puppy Chow?! It looks interesting!
Cool that you’ve signed up for Elf4Health, I did it last year and had a lot of fun!

    • *Gasp* You’ve never had puppy chow?!!!!! 😯

As a fellow lover of nut butter and chocolate you must make it immediately. Do you all have Chex cereal over there? I tried to look up some similar versions in case you don’t… http://www.britishgrocery.net/waitrose-malted-wheats/ Or maybe Crispix? Something like that?

Then basically you melt together peanut butter and chocolate, pour it over the cereal, place it in a bag, cover it in powdered sugar, and shake so it is well coated. Just type in Puppy Chow online and you will get A TON of recipes πŸ™‚

  13. Catching Fire was amazing!! I loved every part of it.

  14. puppy chow is straight crack, that stuff is just amazing, especially different flavors of it. for someone who doesn’t love peanut butter i really appreciate the other flavors.

  15. Wow, you were lucky to get the answers to your take-home quiz accidentally sent to you–did your professor realize it later? I am glad you enjoyed watching Catching Fire; I loved all the Hunger Games movies, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the first movie. I guess that’s the problem with reading the books first! I always have unrealistically high expectations of the film version;) I always enjoy having deep and thought-provoking conversations with my family and friends, which is why I love college classes that involve such discussions. Can you believe I have never made (or tasted) a puppy chow recipe before?? That needs to change, and soon, especially since most people would probably think I am crazy for never having tried it. I hope you enjoy your week!

  16. I cannot wait to see Catching Fire. The more I hear about it, the more I want to see it! πŸ™‚ Also, thanks for sharing the apologetics website! I’m glad you were able to have a discussion about it with your dad πŸ™‚

    • It was definitely cool to see the cornucopia on the big screen. The cinematography was incredible and breath-taking.

The question of evolution and creationism actually arose from my Astronomy class… I just wanted to know his thoughts and he wasn’t sure so we used the power of Google for another take πŸ™‚ It seems like God knew that I was looking for answers though with the music that we sang at church this Sunday. We sing this one song that says “I know Who goes before me. I know Who stands behind. The God of angel armies. Is always by my side.” I got chills during that part. Every time πŸ™‚

  17. So many good, happy things in this post! I’m so excited to see Catching Fire…hopefully I’ll have time to this weekend!

  18. Strawberry cupcake puppy chow?! It looks so delicious…and so pink :)!!

  19. Ah soooo excited to go see catching fire this week! And super excited to see you’re an elf for health too, how are you feeling about those 100 burpees coming up this week?

And all this puppy chow? Seriously girl you are killing me with this πŸ™‚

  20. Oh my those puppy chow recipes!! I’m definitely going to try the cupcake recipe. I had a hot fudge sundae this weekend so my Monday was pretty marvelous thinking about that. πŸ˜‰

  21. Christmas movies and puppy chow WEEEEEE!!! Oh and I need to see Catching Fire! I didn’t read the second book (don’t shoot) because I didn’t like the first one (again, don’t shoot! It wasn’t because I found it bad- I found it too disturbing. Same reason I can’t stomach Lord of the Flies, even though I know it’s written well), but everyone is saying this movie was better the first, and I can stomach the movie more than I could the book. Need to checkitouttt.

  22. I’ve never actually had “puppy chow” but I have seen a lot of recipes and it does look quite good!

  23. Why had I never known so many different versions of puppy chow existed? You have opened my eyes to a whole new beautiful thing in life. You may have some competition on pinning tons and tons of puppy chow recipes, Ha Ha!

  24. I was so thrilled with Catching Fire! I think that it was better than the first.
I am so beyond excited for Christmas movies to come on TV…I think the 25 days of Christmas on ABC Family starts soon!! πŸ™‚

  25. Welcome back. It’s nice to see you in the WIR linkup again.
I can’t believe your dad is only now turning on the heat. You have to be using a wood burning stove in the interim. Right? Otherwise I’m surprised you haven’t turned into an icicle by now.
I still need to watch the Hunger Games. Then I can move onto to Catching Fire.
The Healthy Elf is a really cute idea.
Confession: I’ve never eaten puppy chow and I don’t see myself trying it anytime soon. The name puppy chow has always been a deterrent for me, so much so I don’t even know what’s in it.

  26. Elf for Health sounds fun — what a wonderful challenge! πŸ™‚ I adore the conversations I’ve had with my mom or friends while I’m in the car or in other places — it’s great to know they’re there to help and I hope to show they I’m there for them as well. I love this post with all the things you’re grateful for — reminds me to be grateful for the little things in my life. Thanks!
